
Amit Khanal, MD
Dr. Khanal serves as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Hospital Medicine at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, North Carolina. As the Director of Medical Education at eHealthyInfo and Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Patient Health Info (AJPHI), he guides the academic and editorial direction of the organization, ensuring the delivery of reliable, evidence-based, and accessible healthcare information.
His medical journey began in Nepal, where he gained invaluable experience working in medically underserved regions—an experience that shaped his resilience, empathy, and commitment to addressing global healthcare challenges. Before his current academic role, Dr. Khanal worked as a Research Associate at the University of Illinois, Chicago (UIC), where he conducted extensive laboratory-based research involving the processing of peripheral blood, umbilical cord blood, and bone marrow, as well as cell culture, isolation, colony assays, and mechanistic studies. He also contributed to data analysis, literature review, experimental design, and manuscript preparation, while actively participating in scholarly seminars and research activities.
