Sugar is everywhere, but how do you know if you’re having too much? Here are four signs your body is giving you too much. 

  1.  The first one is constant cravings. If you find yourself reaching for sweets throughout the day, it could be a sign that sugar is affecting your brain’s reward system. The more sugar you eat, the more you crave it, creating a cycle that’s hard to break. And the worst part – you don’t even realize the addiction. 
  2. Next, one is energy crashes. Sugar causes quick spikes in blood sugar followed by a rapid drop, leaving you tired, sluggish, or even irritable. Excess sugar could be the culprit if you often feel drained after meals or have high energy and instantly feel the need to rest.
  3. Another sign is frequent breakouts. Yes, you heard it right. Various studies have shown that high sugar intake can trigger inflammation and cause acne. Sugar intake above 100 grams per day has also been found to significantly increase the risk of moderate to severe acne. So, if you’re struggling with persistent skin issues, your diet, especially sugar, may be playing a role.
  4. The last one is weight gain. Sugary foods are often high in empty calories, meaning they don’t keep you full for long and don’t provide other benefits of fiber and nutrients. This can lead to overeating, as you don’t feel that fullness afterwards, making you eat more and more. Over time, you get that unwanted weight without realizing it.
